Brooklyn's Blessing

On February 14, 2016 Brooklyn was given the most beautiful blessing by he daddy! The weather cooperated with us and we were finally able to get my parents (from Nevada) and Curtis' parents (from Washington) out to Rexburg, Idaho.

It was such a fun, eventful day filled with friends, family, laughter and love. We couldn't have wished for a better day. We are so grateful for all of our family and friends who traveled far and near to make it such a special day for Brooklyn.

Curtis did such a wonderful job on Brooklyn's blessing, even though he was a little nervous. He blessed her to be able to stay strong in her faith and be able to be baptized and married in the temple, to be able to make those sacred covenants with her Father in Heaven. Brooklyn is such a special girl and she brings such a warm spirit into our home. We are so blessed that she is in our family.

Brooklyn was blessed on her very first Valentine's Day! Curtis got Brooklyn her very first rose and she loved it! (Well she liked to stare at it! Haha)

This will continue to be a tradition with Curtis and our daughters on Valentine's Day. They will get a single rose!
I love family traditions and I am so glad that I have my own little family now that we can continue our family traditions with and create our own new ones!

Here are some more photos of Brooklyn thanks to Kristi Kay Photography!

Brooklyn has always got some fingers in her mouth!

Nothing makes Curtis and I happier than being parents to this sweet little girl. She is the happiest baby and has such a wonderful personality! We love watching her and seeing how she grows each and every day. Bringing children into this world is one of the scariest and best things that we could ever do.

I'm so glad that we were finally able to get Brooklyn blessed at 3 months old! Thank you to all of our family and friends for all of the love and support you have shown to our little family. We love you all!

Love,
Shelby

FHE the Evans Way

For those of you who don't know, FHE stands for Family Home Evening. Our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) really emphasizes the family. A few years back ( I'm not entirely sure how long ago) the church decided that each family should put aside one night a week to learn about the gospel and grow together. So on Monday nights most families will have FHE.

Sometimes with our little family it is hard to do FHE, but tonight we thought we would show Brooklyn something that Curtis and I both enjoy doing.... BASKETBALL.

As we were driving to campus we watched a Mormon Message on my phone as our spiritual thought for the night. You can click below to watch it.

I hope and pray that Curtis and I will be able to raise Brooklyn, and our future kids, to be this faithful as they're growing up.

Once we got to campus we went to one of the gyms and Curtis and I just shot around for a little while, having fun. I took Brooklyn out of her car seat and we played around with her. She loved listening to the music they had playing in the gym. But what made her smile most was watching her daddy shoot around the basketball.

Curtis and I had so much fun being able to share with Brooklyn one of our hobbies! Even though she is still so little it's never too early to have FHE with your kids or share your passions with them!\

We are so glad that Brooklyn had such a good time! I'm sure she will probably be getting her own basketball soon!

We love this little girl and are so grateful that we are able to enjoy family time!

Love,
Shelby

My Valentine

I've seen this post going around Facebook about Valentine's and so I want to share a little bit about mine!

I am so glad I get this boy to be my Valentine for eternity!

1. Where did you meet your other half?
Curtis and I met at the Singles Branch in Elko, NV.

2. How long have you been with your significant other?
Together for 2 years, married for a little over 1 year.

3. If you're married, when did you say "I do"?
November 21, 2014 in the beautiful Brigham City, Utah temple.

4. What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Well since we got married in the temple we didn't walk down the aisle to a song but our first song that we danced to as husband and wife was "I Love You This Big" by Scotty McCreery.

5. Do you have any children yet?
Brooklyn Ann, but I'm sure we will have a lot more!

6. What's your favorite thing about your other half?
The first thing that I loved so much about Curtis was how much he loves his family. They are a very close family! I also love how great of a dad he is and how he takes care of me and Brooklyn.

7. Were you and your other half high school sweethearts?
No, we didn't meet until after high school. But I always tease Curtis about not taking me to prom haha!

8. Where was your first date?
At the time I had never been to a drive in movie theatre before so Curtis made one for me! We went to dinner at Costa Vida and then drove out and watched "Sweet Home Alabama" in the car! It was so sweet.

9. How long were you dating before you said "I love you"?
I'm pretty sure we said it the day we started dating!

10. How long were you dating your other half before he/she proposed?
4 months. The saying "When you know, you know!" is so true!

11. Where is your favorite place you have traveled with your other half?
We have done a lot of traveling/moving since we've been married! But my favorite is probably when we went to Disneyland!

12. How do you and your other half usually spend Valentine's Day?
Our first was spent with friends at dinner and bowling. Our second was homemade diner and a movie at home. This year will be spent with family and friends getting our baby blessed!

13. What does your favorite 'date night' consist of?
Cooking home made pizza and snuggling up on the couch watching a movie and eating popcorn with a glass or root beer!

14. What is the best gift you have received from your other half?
Definitely my baby girl! Brooklyn is the best gift I could ever receive!

Happy Valentine's Day from my sweet family to yours!

Love,
Shelby

Brooklyn Ann Evans

On November 10, 2015 at 2:21 am a beautiful baby girl entered this world at 7lbs 10oz and 21 inches long. She is the biggest blessing and miracle that Curtis and I have had. We were excited, exhausted and just so happy that she finally made her entrance after 14 hours of labor.

Brooklyn Ann Evans
Brooklyn has been such a joy in our lives and she has such a sweet spirit. She is such a good baby and we are so excited that she is ours!

Brooklyn just celebrated her 3 month birthday and she is such a ham! She loves her baths, daddy, eating and sitting up! Brooklyn has such a personality about her and we love watching her grow. We can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!

Thanks for following! That was a crash course in what's been happening in our lives so far. I will keep the blog updated as life goes on with the events and adventures that our family has. There's always something new going on!

Love,
Shelby, Curtis and Brooklyn

Let's Start at the Beginning

I have been wanting to do a blog for quite a while now and I'm finally jumping in and getting at it!

Welcome to The Evans Adventures! We are so excited to share our lives with everyone, and what better place to start than at the beginning.

In January of 2014 Curtis moved to Elko, Nevada for an internship at a tax firm. I was living at home with my parents in Spring Creek. Curtis jumped right in and joined in the activities at the Singles Branch and that is where we met.

We threw a surprise birthday party for one of our friends and the cake had blue frosting on it. This is the first picture I have of Curtis! (And I still fell in love with the goof!)

A few weeks later my family had a tragic event happen and Curtis was texting me the whole weekend. He was amazing and was such a great friend. He really helped me out more than he thought he did. When I got back that weekend we were pretty much inseparable.

We started dating in February, Curtis moved back to Rexburg in April for school and by June we were engaged!

June 19, 2014 was one of the best days!
(Sorry for the bad quality picture of the ring.)
I moved to Rexburg to be close to Curtis in August and we were married November 21, 2014 in the Brigham City, Utah temple.

For being a wedding at the end of November it was
so nice and sunny! It was beautiful.

Since we've been married we have moved about every 4 months. We spent January-April in Spring Creek, Nevada. April to July was in Rexburg, Idaho for school. Then August to December we were in Wasco, CA doing an internship on a farm. We have loved every place we've lived and made many great friends!

In March of 2015 we found out that we were expecting a baby!

In June we found out that baby was a GIRL!
(Sorry this post is so long, I will make a new one all about baby girl!)
