Spring Break 2017: Kansas Trip

We decided if we left Friday we could get 4 hours down the road to Boise and then when we went to Rock Springs on Saturday we would have a shorter drive and be able to spend more time with Curtis' aunt and uncle! Well, at Baker City there was a wreck and we had to take a detour on an old highway to go around the freeway. We finally were able to get back on the freeway and a little while down the road there was another wreck. We sat on the freeway for over 3 hours.. So much for leaving early. Our 4 hour drive turned into a 7 hour trip and it was no fun at all. While we were sitting on the freeway we had a dvd playing for Brooklyn. Wellllll, that killed the battery. Luckily the family ahead of us had jumper cables and were able to back up and jump our car before traffic started moving again! So embarrassing. HA!
We finally made it to Boise around 1 or 2 in the morning. Saturday morning we got up a little late and headed out to Rock Springs, WY to stay with Nadine and Gavin. Sunday morning we drove the rest of the way to Salina, KS.
On Monday we went to the zoo with Patty's parents, Tracie (Patty's niece) & her family, and Billy & Charlotte's family. We had so much fun! Brooklyn loved it so much more than last time we went to the zoo, she's a little older now and it's more exciting. They had tons of things for little kids and Brooklyn loved playing with and feeding the goats. She especially loved the newborn baby goats. After the zoo we all met Allene & Dave (Patty's sister) and had pizza at a buffet. Then back to Salina for the night.
On Tuesday Curtis, Brooklyn and I drove down to Galva where Curtis used to live. We drove past their house that they built and went and looked around his old high school! I got to meet a lot of his teachers and see his school. It was so fun and exciting to see a part of Curtis' past that I had never seen before. We also had a gender reveal for Billy and Charlotte and are so excited that they are expecting baby girl #4!! We are so excited for them, they are such great parents to their beautiful girls and we're so happy that they're adding another one!
Wednesday was kind of a relaxing day. The boys went golfing in the afternoon and the girls went and got pedicures. Brooklyn even stood in the foot bath and loved it! I on the other hand was squirming the whole time the guy was doing my feet because they are SO ticklish! I warned him and apologized in advance if I kicked him! Luckily, I didn't and only twitched haha.
Thursday was Grandpa Evans' birthday and he wanted to go fishing. Curtis' parents have a bunch of acreage out in Kansas that has a few ponds on it. We went out there for a few hours and hung out, walked the land and fished. It was a lot of fun being out there as a family. First sunburns of the year. Poor Brooklyn, I had sunscreen with us and didn't put any on her because she had her jacket on most of the time, I didn't even think of her face. #momfail Her skin is so fair because we haven't been in the sun hardly at all yet this year and her cheeks, nose and scalp got pretty red! I felt so bad..
Friday morning we got up super early and headed out to get back to Washington. We made it as far as Evanston, WY and stayed the night there. Saturday morning it was snowing and ice cold outside, I did not want to drive through snow!! But we made it back to Washington safe and sound. It was such a fun trip and we're so grateful that we had the opportunity to go to Kansas and visit with both sets of Curtis' grandparents. We also got to spend time with Billy & Charlotte and Brooklyn got to spend time and get to know her cousins better!
All in all, it was such a fun trip and we enjoyed spending so much time with family for the week!

Brooklyn: 1 year 5 months

Brooklyn was standing on the bottom stair and I think she forgot she was on it. She took a step back and fell right off! She cut her gums right at the frenum on the top and it was bleeding pretty bad. It was a little swollen and bruised for a day or so. She's feeling much better now but we still are not brushing her teeth until it heels all the way, mostly because she won't let us anywhere near her mouth!

Speaking of brushing teeth, Brooklyn loves to brush her teeth! She is very observant and knows that Curtis and I put water on our toothbrushes. After we hand her her own toothbrush she sits there with it in the air and tells mama! louder and louder until I turn the faucet on and put some water on it!

Brooklyn is STILL taking 2 naps a day and it is wonderful! She also sleeps 11-12 hours at night! (I hope finding jinx myself!)

Brooklyn is still loving nursery and I am so glad they let her go early!

We finally had warm enough weather the other day and were able to go play outside! Brooklyn ran and ran all around the yard! Hopefully it quits raining soon so we can get out and enjoy the sunshine more!

The jogging stroller was in the front room the other day and Brooklyn climbed right up into it (I still have no idea how she was able to do that without tipping it over!). She's really itching to go on some walks.

The answer to everything is no (in the sweetest little voice ever!) Even if it's not a yes or no question.

Brooklyn took her first trip to Kansas! Last time we were there I was pregnant with her! She had so much fun playing with her cousins!

Brooklyn loves dancing and singing, Justin Timberlake is her current fav. I'm okay with that because my 90s side gets to come back out! ;)

"Oh no!" is a new favorite saying. And Brooklyn has been calling everybody mama lately!

We have been trying to ween Brooklyn off of her pacifier. For about the past 6ish months she has only had it while taking naps and sleeping at night. She really doesn't need it because she will fall asleep sometimes without it. She usually does really good falling asleep without it, it's at 2:30 or 5:30 am that she wakes up crying and I am too tired I usually give it to her! But there have been a lot of good night's where she sleeps all night without it! Big girl!
